We confirm within 1–2 business days and ask for your site plan. We never share your details.

Why lighting design matters

Without a professional lighting design you risk:

  • Too many poles – overspending on every extra pole and footing
  • Too few lights – dark spots between poles
  • Safety complaints from residents, staff or visitors
  • Overspending on oversized lights, batteries and panels
  • Failing the council's or engineer's lighting requirements

Who uses this service

For anyone who needs to light a road, car park, path or yard properly – and justify the layout.

CouncilsLocal roads, parks and public spaces
ContractorsDesigns for tenders and installs
Electrical engineersPhotometric check before you specify
Property developersEstates, access roads and car parks
SchoolsCar parks, walkways and grounds

What you receive

A clear, visual design you can show to your council, engineer, builder or client.

3D photometric simulation

A 3D night view of your site showing how the light falls on the road, paths and surroundings.

Road simulated diagram

A plan-view lux map of the whole area, so dark spots are found on paper – not on site.

Calculated results

Average and minimum lux and uniformity for each area, compared with your target.

Layout & written quote

Recommended model, pole height, spacing and arrangement, bill of materials and a freight-inclusive quote.

What we calculate

  • Average illuminance (Eavg, lux)
  • Minimum illuminance (Emin, lux)
  • Uniformity (U0 = Emin / Eavg)
  • Pole spacing
  • Pole height
  • Beam coverage (light distribution across road and paths)
  • Battery autonomy (nights of back-up)
  • Solar panel sizing (for your location)

Example: 3D photometric simulation & road simulated diagram

Sample output: 3D false-colour simulation, night view, light distribution curve and road isolux diagram. Your report is calculated for your site's real dimensions, lights and target.

Example calculation

Rule of thumb vs calculated layout

Same site, same target: 200 m two-lane road, 7 m wide with 1.5 m footpaths, 6 m poles on one side, target 15 lx average and uniformity 0.30, maintenance factor 0.8. Both layouts calculated with EVIEKO's photometric planner engine.

Before: rule of thumb

Spacing = 3 × pole height, larger 60 W light

Lights needed
13
Spacing
18.0 m
Average (Eavg)
30.2 lx
Darkest point (Emin)
11.6 lx
Uniformity (U0)
0.38
Total LED load
780 W

About 2× more light than needed

After: EVIEKO calculated layout

40 W EVIEKO bifacial solar street light (EV-SL-108)

Lights needed
10
Spacing
24.0 m
Average (Eavg)
15.1 lx
Darkest point (Emin)
5.8 lx
Uniformity (U0)
0.39
Total LED load
400 W

Meets both targets

23% fewer poles and 49% less LED power in this example

Going the other way – stretching the same 40 W light to 40 m spacing (6 lights) – leaves dark spots: Emin 2.5 lx, U0 0.28, average 9.1 lx, so the target is not met. Results differ for every site; this is one illustrative calculation, not a guaranteed saving.

How it works

1. Send your site detailsA site plan, drawing or Google Maps link, plus the basics listed below.
2. We simulate itWe model the area, test suitable EVIEKO solar lights and compare layouts until the target is met.
3. You receive the report3D simulation, road diagram, calculated results and recommended layout – with your written quote.
4. Order with confidenceApprove the quote and we ship your lights by tracked freight to your site.

Typical turnaround

Small projects2–3business days · e.g. one street, path or car park
Medium projects3–5business days · e.g. several roads or a large car park
Large projects5–10business days · e.g. estates, multi-site or tender packages

We confirm your request within 1–2 business days.

Turnaround starts once we have the site information we need.

For engineers

Need numbers you can check? We share the inputs, method and results so your review is quick.

  • Calculated from the luminaires' IES photometric files
  • Targets from AS/NZS 1158 or EN 13201 lighting categories – or your own lux and uniformity values
  • Inputs, assumptions and results delivered as a PDF report

Our design is a design aid: final compliance sign-off remains with the project engineer or approving authority.

What to send us

  • Project location (suburb or GPS) – used for sunlight hours and battery sizing
  • Type of area: road, street, car park, pathway, yard, sports court…
  • Road width, number of lanes and footpaths, total length or area
  • Preferred or existing pole height and spacing, if any
  • Target lighting level or category (e.g. AS/NZS 1158 or EN 13201 set by your council or engineer), if known
  • Hours of operation each night and any motion-sensor preference
  • Drawings (PDF/DWG), photos or a Google Maps link

Don't have everything? Send what you have and we will ask for the rest.

Questions

Is the lighting design really free?

Yes. The design is included with your project quotation and there is no obligation to order.

How long does it take?

We confirm your request within 1–2 business days. Typical turnaround once we have your site information: small projects 2–3 business days, medium projects 3–5 and large projects 5–10.

Can you design to AS/NZS 1158, EN 13201 or a council requirement?

Yes. We calculate against the AS/NZS 1158 or EN 13201 lighting-category targets you give us, or against your own lux and uniformity values. Final compliance sign-off remains with your project engineer or approving authority.

What do I receive?

A PDF lighting report with the 3D photometric simulation, road simulated diagram, calculated results (average and minimum lux, uniformity), the recommended model, pole height and spacing, battery and solar panel sizing, plus your written quote.

Which lights do you design with?

EVIEKO solar street and area lights. Calculations use the luminaires' IES photometric files.

Can I try a layout myself first?

Yes. The online Solar Street Light Planner gives an instant pre-design for straight roads, car park aisles and pathways. Send it to us and we check it and complete the full design.

Do you design for sites outside Australia?

Yes. We design for sites in Australia and worldwide. Your project location is used for sunlight hours and battery sizing.
